## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT TOOK OFF FROM DVT AIRPORT FROM RUNWAY 25. UPON REACHING THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE DVT TOWER CLEARED THE PILOT TO TURN TO THE NORTH. THE PILOT INITIAL REPLY WAS GARBLED AND THE TOWER REPEATED THE INSTRUCTIONS. THE PILOT THEN RESPONDED TO THE INSTRUCTIONS AND BEGAN A RIGHT TURN. THE AIRCRAFT THEN WENT INTO A RIGHT HAND SPIN AND CRASHED IN A STEEL SCRAP YARD AND EXPLODED ON IMPACT KILLING THE PILOT IN THE POST CRASH FIRE. SEVERAL WITNESSES ON THE GROUND CONCUR THE ENGINE WAS PRODUCING POWER AND A TEAR DOWN OF THE ENGINE SHOWED THAT IT WAS CAPABLE OF MAKING POWER. FAA INSPECTORS WERE ABLE TO VERIFY CONTROL SURFACE CONTINUITY HOWEVER ALL OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES WERE CONSUMED IN THE POST CRASH FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA010](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA010), Oct 9, 2009: Cruz SE5A Replica (N3944U), Phoenix, AZ, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed during initial climb, which resulted in a stall/spin and impact with the ground.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
