## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS AIRCRAFT (HEREAFTER REFERRED TO AS THE SECOND AIRCRAFT) IS ONE OF TWO AIRCRAFT INVOLVED IN A MID-AIR COLLISION. THE TWO WERE PERFORMING A FORMATION FLIGHT, "LOW FLY-BY" OF THE RUNWAY AT THE PINEVILLE, LOUISIANA AIRPORT DURING AN EAA FLY IN. UPON A RIGHT TURN OUT AT THE END OF THE FLYBY, A MISCOMMUNICATION OCCURED BETWEEN THE PILOTS OF THE TWO AIRCRAFT, WHICH RESULTED IN THE LEAD AIRPLANE OF THE TWO AIRCRAFT FORMATION FLIGHT TURNING HARD RIGHT, CAUSING THE SECOND AIRCRAFT, IN THE 5 O'CLOCK POSITION RELATIVE TO THE LEAD AIRCRAFT, TO FLY DIRECTLY INTO THE LEAD AIRCRAFT, CAUSING A PROPELLER STRIKE OF THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT HAND WING AN SEVERING THE TAIL OF THE LEAD AIRCRAFT. BOTH AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A HEAVILY WOODED AREA, WITH TWO FATALATIES IN THE LEAD AIRCRAFT, AND SERIOUS INJURIES SUSTAINED BY THE OCCUPANTS OF THE SECOND, TRAILING AIRCRAFT.
