## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 12, 2009, EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT AIRCRAFT, GIARDINO SH2R, N66MG, LANDED AT TORRANCE AIRPORT WITH THE LANDNG GEAR UP. INTERVIEW OF THE PILOT INDICATES THAT DURING APPROACH, TOA ATC DIRECTED HIM TO CHANGE HIS LANDING RUNWAY TO 11R. HE THOUGHT HE HAD SELECTED GEAR DOWN, AND WHEN HE REALIZED THE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN IT WAS TOO LATE TO CORRECT. HE LANDED GEAR UP, AND SLID TO A STOP ON THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT ON BOARD AND HE DID NOT INCUR ANY INJURIES. PICTURES TAKEN ON SITE BY TOA OPERATIONS PERSONNEL CLEARLY SHOW THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH IN THE “GEAR UP” POSITION. INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT, THE LANDING GEAR WAS DOWN WITH THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH IN THE “GEAR DOWN” POSITION. AIRCRAFT WAS FULLY SUPPORTED BY THE LANDING GEAR. DAMAGE IS LIMITED TO DEEP SCRAPES ON NOSE GEAR DOORS, SLIGHT SCRAPES ON LEFT GEAR WHEEL COVER, AND THE TAIL CONE LOWER SEAM IS SPLIT. PROP HAD BEEN REMOVED, BOTH TIPS WERE BENT BACKWARD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
