## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRPLANE. HE STATED THAT 3 HOURS INTO A FLIGHT THAT WAS TRACKING WOLVES, THEY PICKED UP A SIGNAL FROM A WOLF. HE MADE A SHARP TURN TO CIRCLE THE WOLF, AT THIS POINT HE CAUGHT A TAIL WIND DOWN DRAFT. HE INDICATED THERE WAS NO STALL WARNING SOUND BUT THE AIRPLANE DESCENDED INTO THE TREES. THE AIRPLANE BURNED ON IMPACT. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE AIRPLANE BUT UNABLE TO GET THE PASSENGER OUT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC10FA004](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC10FA004), Oct 14, 2009: Cessna A185E (N2764J), Healy, AK, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to maneuver at a low altitude over rising terrain in conditions conducive to turbulence/downdrafts, resulting in a loss of control and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
