## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 18, 2009 AT APPROXIMATELY 09:25 CDT, N8312D, A BEECHCRAFT J35, WAS EN ROUTE FROM TOPEKA, KANSAS TO SPEARFISH, SOUTH DAKOTA. THE PILOT OF THE AIRCRAFT REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH WHILE FLYING IN THE VICINITY OF SARGENT, NEBRASKA. THE PILOT CONTACTED ATC AND STATED THAT HE INTENDED TO DIVERT TO BURWELL, NEBRASKA. WHILE DIVERTING TO BURWELL, NEBRASKA, THE NO. 2 CYLINDER SEPARATED FROM THE CRANKCASE CAUSING THE WINDSCREEN TO BECOME COVERED WITH OIL. THE PILOT THEN DECIDED TO LAND AT SARGENT MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. UNABLE TO LOCATE THE AIRPORT, THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 183, APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE SOUTH OF SARGENT, NEBRAKSA. THE PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
