## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 27 AT KUYF (MADISON COUNTY). THE PILOT HAD INDICATED THAT ON ARRIVAL TO MADISON COUNTY THAT WINDS ON THE SURFACE WERE STEADY AT "AROUND 8 KNOTS." THE PILOT LANDED AT MADISON COUNTY DUE TO THE FACT THAT HIS DESTINATION AIRPORT WAS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. ON DEPARTURE FROM MADISON COUNTY THE WINDS WERE GUSTING TO 15 KNOTS. ON DEPARTURE ROLL THE PILOT INDICATED THAT A BRIEF GUST OF WIND CAUSED HIM TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, WHICH RESULTED IN HIM EXITING THE RUNWAY SURFACE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA024](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA024), Oct 19, 2009: Cessna 170B (N2719D), London, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the takeoff roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
