## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AALA 1375 (N960AN, S/N29542) ABORTED A TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 6 AT BDL IN WINDSOR LOCKS, CT WHEN A PILOT FROM EGF3873 HOLDING SHORT OF THE RUNWAY ADVISED HE SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE RIGHT ENGINE. THE CREW REPORTED THEY EXECUTED THE ABORT WHEN HEARING THIS REPORT AT 115KIAS (VONE CALCULATED AT 145KIAS). THE CREW DID NOT REPORT HAVING AN ENGINE FIRE WARNING ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENGINE, AND ALL ENGINE INDICATIONS INCLUDING OIL WERE NORMAL. THE CREW BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT TO A STOP ON THE RUNWAY. THE ARFF INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT AND FOUND NO FIRE. THE CREW EXECUTED THE ABORT/SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE IAW THE QRH. AN EVACUATION WAS NOT REQUIRED DUE TO INDICATION OF NO FIRE OR SMOKE AFTER THE ENGINE WAS SECURED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED TO THE GATE AND THE PASSENGERS WERE DEPLANED. AALA REPORTED THE ENGINE HAD BEEN HUNG ON THIS AIRFRAME 5 DAYS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. INVESTIGATION SHOWED MINOR DARKENING OF THE INNER TAIL PIPE, OTHERWISE NO OTHER VISUAL INDICATION OF FIRE WAS FOUND ON INVESTIGATION. OIL LEVEL ON THE ENGINE INDICATED 3/4 FULL ON INSPECTION. NO PERSONS ON-BOARD WERE INJURED. PASSENGERS ON BOARD ALSO WITNESSED THE FLAMES FROM THE RIGHT ENGINE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
