## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING CLIMB-OUT AT KPHX, AND AT ABOUT 12,000', THE FLIGHT CREW HEARD A VERY LARGE BANG AND A POP IN THE PRESSURIZATION. THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND RETURNED TO KPHX, WITH AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FLIGHT RECEIVED MULTIPLE BIRD STRIKES OF WHAT IS BELIEVED TO BE WESTERN GREBE, A DUCK OF APPROXIMATELY 3.3 POUNDS. THE BIRD STRIKES WERE MOST PRONOUNCED JUST ABOVE THE PILOTS FIRST OFFICERS POSITION AND THE WING TO BODY FAIRING JUST UNDER THE RIGHT WING TO BODY AREA. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DUE OT STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IN BOTH BIRD STRIKE AREAS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, AND THE PASSENGERS WERE DEPLANED NORMALLY AT THE GATE.
