## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 11/05/2009 AT 07:11 EST AN EMB-145LR (N579RP) OPERATED BY CHQA AS FLIGHT 6004 WAS AT CRUISE WHEN THE CREW REPORTED A #2 ENGINE FIRE INDICATION. THE CREW RAN THE QRH, DISCHARGED BOTH FIRE BOTTLES, AND SHUT DOWN THE #2 ENGINE. THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED INTO BUF AND LANDED ON RUNWAY 23 WITHOUT INCIDENT. FIRE CREWS CHECKED THE ENGINE AND REPORTED NO SIGN OF FIRE. CHQA'S MAINTENANCE CONTROL DISPATCHED ON-CALL MAINTENANCE (PRIOR AVIATION) TO THE AIRCRAFT. ON-CALL MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE ENGINE AND FOUND NO SIGNS OF FIRE OR DAMAGE. THE ENGINE FIRE LOOP WAS OHMED OUT AND WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. CHQA MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL WERE DISPATCHED TO BUF AND REPLACED THE #2 ENGINE FIRE DETECTORS PER THE EMB-145 PER AMM 26-11-01. THE DETECTOR PASSED ALL TESTS REQUIRED BY AMM 26-00-00 AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
