## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, THE AIRCRAFT WAS MANUVERING NEXT TO SOME HILLS WHEN IT CONTACTED HIGH WIND GUSTS AND HE LOST CONTROL WHEREAS THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND AND CRASHED. HOWEVER THE PASSENGER TOLD THE INSPECTOR THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC10LA006](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC10LA006), Nov 6, 2009: Champion 7GCBC (N5268X), Kenai, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to fly at a low altitude in strong winds and turbulence, resulting in a loss of control and a collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
