## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THE MORNING OF SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2009, AIRPORT PERSONNEL STATED THAT THE PILOT OF N6644, AN EXPERIMENTAL HOMEBUILT AIRCRAFT, HAD GIVEN APPROXIMATELY THREE RIDES TO FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES. AIRPORT PERSONNEL SAID THE PILOT'S NORMAL ROUTINE WAS TO TAKE OFF AND AT ABOUT MID FILED, LIFT OFF, AND AT 25 TO 50 FEET ALTITUDE OFF THE RUNWAY WOULD MAKE A HARD 90 DEGREE RIGHT TURN TO THE WEST, AFTER THE TURN WAS COMPLETED, THE PILOT WOULD LEVEL THE WINGS AND IMMEDIATELY CLIMB TO APPROXIMATELY 2000 TO 2400 FEET AGL AND EXECUTE A WINGOVE MANEUVER AND TURN TO A EASTERLY HEADING, FLY ACROSS THE AIRPORT, RETURN AND LAND. WEATHER REPORTED ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 08, 2009 1659Z, (10:59 LOCAL TIME) WAS SCT015 (SCATTERED AT 1500 FT AGL) AND OVCO24 (OVERCAST AT 2400 FT AGL) AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. DUE TO THE LOW CEILING, THE PILOT DID NOT ALLOW ENOUGH ALTITUDE FOR SAFELY EXECUTING THE INTENDED MANEUVER AND CRASHED VERTICALLY INTO THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10LA043](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10LA043), Nov 8, 2009: Moore Skybolt/BM (N6644), Altus, OK, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's poor judgment by performing intentional low-level maneuvers that resulted in an inadvertent stall/spin at an altitude to low to affect a safe recovery.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
