## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT IS IN TRAINING FOR INITIAL FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATE. PILOT HAD COMPLETED NUMEROUS TOUCHDOWN AUTOROTATIONS WITH INSTRUCTOR ON BOARD. PILOT WAS CONDUCTING FIRST TOUCHDOWN AUTOROTATION WITHOUT AN INSTRUCTOR ON THE AIRCRAFT. DURING THE FLARE PHASE OF THE AUTOROTATION THE PILOT FAILED TO ADEQUATELY ARREST THE RATE OF DESCENT WITH APPLICATION OF COLLECTIVE INPUT. THE TAIL ROTOR AND STINGER OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE GROUND, THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED BACK INTO THE AIR, AND THE PILOT EXECUTED A RUN ON LANDING WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA075](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA075), Nov 20, 2009: Schweizer 269C-1 (N321ET), Lebanon, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to arrest the helicopter descent during the simulated engine out maneuver resulting in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
