## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT N6649M WAS FLOWN FROM HAYWARD, CA TO THE BORGES-CLARKESBURG AIRPORT ON 12/4/09. THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED ON LANDING AT CLARKSBURG. AN EYEWITNESS STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS VERY HIGH COMING IN FROM THE EAST. HE SAID THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN VERY LONG AND RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND HIT A TREE. HE SAID THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT AND DID NOT APPEAR TO BE INJURED. THE PILOT OBTAINED ASSISTANCE FROM A NEARBY AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE FACILITY TO EXTRACT HIS AIRCRAFT FROM THE CRASH SITE AND PARK IT IN A NEARBY "T" HANGAR. THE AIRPORT MANAGER DISCOVERED THE ACCIDENT ON 12/5/09. HE NOTIFIED THE SACRAMENTO FSDO OF THE ACCIDENT ON 12/7/09. A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION HAS REVEALED THE IDENTITY OF THE PILOT AS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. THE AIRCRAFT WAS INSPECTED BY THE FAA ON 12/8/09 AND DEEMED UNAIRWORTHY DUE TO OBVIOUS LACK OF MAINTENANCE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT REGISTERED AND THE PILOTS CERTIFICATE WAS REVOKED IN 2006. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DID NOT COOPERATE WITH THE NTSB INVESTIGATOR WHEN CONTACTED. AN ENFORCEMENT INVESTIGATION IS TO FOLLOW THIS REPORT. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA072](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA072), Dec 4, 2009: Stinson 108-3 (N6649M), Clarksburg, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper touchdown point and excessive airspeed during landing, which resulted in a runway overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
