## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ON A PRIVATE PILOT CHECK RIDE WITH A DESIGNATED PILOT EXAMINER (DPE). AFTER COMPLETING AIR WORK AT 3000 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL (AGL) THE DPE ANNOUNCED, "SIMULATED RISE IN OIL TEMPERATURE AND DECREASING OIL PRESSURE." THE STUDENT PILOT DIVERTED TO THE BLAIR MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KBTA). WHILE ENROUTE TO KBTA AT AROUND 1000 FEET AGL, THE DPE APPLIED CARBURETOR HEAT, PULLED THE THROTTLE TO IDLE, AND ANNOUNCED, "SIMULATED ENGINE FAILURE." THE STUDENT PILOT TURNED TOWARD A BEAN FIELD AND SETUP FOR THE SIMULATED OFF FIELD LANDING. AT 200-300 FEET AGL, THE STUDENT PILOT SET THE FLAPS TO 40 DEGREES. THE DPE ANNOUNCED, "FULL POWER." THE STUDENT PILOT SLOWLY APPLIED FULL POWER, BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND AND POWER WAS NOT RESTORED. THE DPE LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN THE RECENTLY PLOWED BEAN FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED DURING THE LANDING AND NO PROPERTY ON THE GROUND WAS DAMAGED. THE STUDENT PILOT AND DPE WERE NOT INJURED DURING THE OFF FIELD LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REMOVED FROM THE BEAN FIELD AND WAS TAXIED TO THE KBTA AIRPORT, WHICH WAS 1 ½ MILES AWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
