## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DEC. 9, 2009, A BEECH A-36 ATTEMPTED TO LAND AT THE EAGLE PASS AIRPORT IN HEAVY FOG BUT WAS OFF COURSE, EAST OF THE RUNWAY AND HIT TWO DEER PROOF FENCES, T-POST AND POST. THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT WING HIT ONE OF THE METAL POST CAUSING IT TO VEER RIGHT AND INTO THE FENCES. FOUR FEET OF THE RT. WING WAS RIPPED OFF INTO 2 PIECES, INCLUDING THE FUEL BLADDER AND IGNITED. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED IN A SOUTHEASTERLY DIRECTION, WENT INVERTED AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE PILOT WAS FATALLY INJURED AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10FA069](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10FA069), Dec 9, 2009: Beech A36 (N1105N), Eagle Pass, TX, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to continue the approach below minimums without visual references, and subsequent collision with the perimeter fence/terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
