## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING TAKE-OFF ROLL ON RUNWAY 01 AT 40 KNOTS THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED A PATCH OF SNOW COVERED ICE AND A LEFT CROSSWIND, AS STATED BY THE PILOT. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER LEFT AND TRAVEL ACROSS THE RUNWAY WHERE THE PROPELLER AND NOSE WHEEL STRUCK A SNOW BANK. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER, COMING TO REST INVERTED NEAR THE FIRST TAXIWAY ALONG THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA077](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA077), Dec 18, 2009: Cessna 172P (N99930), Ames, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control while attempting a takeoff on an ice-covered runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
