## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 18, 2009, AT APPROXIMATELY 1100, CESSNA 177RG, N34947, WAS ENROUTE FROM SYLVANIA AIRPORT, WI (C89) TO KENOSHA REGIONAL AIRPORT, WI (ENW) UNDER VFR CONDITIONS WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. THE OWNER/ PRIVATE PILOT OPERATING THE AIRCRAFT MADE A DECISION TO LAND ON A PRIVATE AIRPORT NORTHEAST OF ENW APPROX. FIVE MILES. DUE TO THE EMERGENCY NATURE OF THE SITUATION THE PILOT NEGLECTED TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR AND LANDED GEAR UP ON THE SNOW COVERED, TURF RUNWAY AT A HEADING OF 180 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. ON SITE INVESTIGATION INDICATED A SMALL AMOUNT OF WET OIL RESIDUE ON THE INTAKE PORT OF THE NO. 1 CYLINDER. THE ENGINE IS TO BE REMOVED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC AND SENT TO AN ENGINE SHOP FOR EVALUATION AND REPAIR. UPON TEARDOWN A REPORT WILL BE MADE TO THIS OFFICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
