## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND LOST CONTROL OF THE HELICOPTER WHILE GROUND TAXIING ON AN OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING PLATFORM. THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED ON TO ITS RIGHT SIDE WHILE THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT. THE INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A DYNAMIC ROLLOVER. THE DATA RETRIEVED FROM THE FLIGHT DATA RECORDER ALSO SUPPORTED THE DYNAMIC ROLLOVER SCENARIO. THERE WERE NO MALFUNCTIONS IDENTIFIED WITH THE AIRCRAFT DURING THE INVESTIGATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10FA079](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10FA079), Dec 24, 2009: Sikorsky S-76C++ (N798P), Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of Mexico), substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to fully land the helicopter prior to entering a turn in strong, crosswind conditions, which resulted in a dynamic rollover.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
