ON JANUARY 5, 2010, AT 1328 MST, N28446, A GRUMMAN AMERICAN AA-5B, CRASHED ON TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 20 AT THE SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. THE PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRPLANE WAS NOT INJURED. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE RUN UP AND INITIAL TAKEOFF ROLL WERE NORMAL. WHEN HE TRIED TO ROTATE THE AIRPLANE FOR TAKEOFF THERE WAS NO ELEVATOR CONTROL AND THE TAKEOFF WAS REJECTED. THE FLIGHT WAS BEING CONDUCTED UNDER 14 CFR PART 91. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND CALM WINDS EXISTED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA091](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA091), Jan 5, 2010: Grumman American AA-5B (N28446), Santa Fe, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The restricted elevator control movement for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
