## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT NOTICED A DROP IN OIL PSI AND STARTED LOSING POWER. PILOT COULD NOT MAINTAIN ALTIDUDE AND STARTED A DECENT FROM 1300 FEET. PILOT ANNOUNCED ON 121.5 OF SITUATATION AND ADVISED HE WAS NOT CLOSE ENOUGH TO ANY LOCALL AIRPORTS AND WAS GOING TO LAND ON THE TURNPIKE. HE STATED IT WAS STILL TO DARK TO FIND A GOOD FIELD TO LAND. PILOT STATED THAT THE TURNPIKE WAS LIGHTED, HAD MINUMUM TRAFFIC AND WAS THE BEST PLACE TO LAND. AIRCRAFT HAD NO DAMAGE. WHEN OIL CHECKED AT SCENE THE DIP STICK HAD NO VISIBLE OIL SHOWN. THERE WAS OIL BLOWN BACK FROM THE ENGINE ALONG THE ENTIRE LENGTH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. DURING INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE IT WAS NOTED THAT OIL ORIGINATED FROM THE PROP SHAFT JUST BEHIND THE PROP SPINNER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
