## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT MADE THE DETERMINATION TO LAND ON A DIRT ROAD DUE TO INCLIMENT WEATHER. DURING THE LANDING ROLL OUT THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ENTERED INTO A SNOW BANK. THE AIRCRAFT TIPPED OVER ITS NOSE AND ENDED UPSIDE-DOWN. VISIBLE DAMAGE WAS TO THE PROPELLER, RUDDER AND VERTICAL STABILATOR, WING STRUTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10CA129](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10CA129), Feb 6, 2010: Maule M-5-235C (N9227E), Kelton, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The non-instrument-rated pilot's decision to take off and fly into marginal weather conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
