## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 02-07-2010 AIRCRAFT N6263D DEPARTED KFFZ AT APPROXIMATELY 0805 AND PROCEEDED NORTH EAST TO FOUNTAIN HILLS. IN CRUISE AT 3000 AGL SOUTH BOUND FROM FOUNTAIN HILLS THE ENGINE STARTED TO RUN ROUGH AND THE DECISION WAS MADE TO RETURN TO KFFZ. IN ROUTE TO KFFZ ABOUT 3 TO 4 MILES FROM THE AIRPORT THE ENGINE STOPPED. THE PILOT SAID HE COULD NOT MAKE IT BACK TO KFFZ AND THE DECISION WAS MADE TO LAND IN RED MOUNTAIN PARK. ON TOUCH DOWN AT THE PARK, A PEDESTRIAN WALKED OUT ACROSS THE PARK CAUSING THE PILOT TO TURN THE AIRCRAFT TO AVOID THE PEDESTRIAN AND CAME TO REST AFTER HITTING A REST ROOM FACILITY AT THE PARK. THE PILOT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES AND THE PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES TO THEIR FOREHEAD. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WITH NO FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA130](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA130), Feb 7, 2010: Nanchang China CJ-6A (N6263D), Mesa, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: Separation of the cylinder from the engine during cruise flight due to fatigue in the studs attaching it to the engine casing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
