## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 23 AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 LOCAL TIME. HE REPORTED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 50 FT AGL THE ENGINE 'SURGED' THEN CAME BACK, THEN 'SURGED' AGAIN. THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND HE ATTEMPTED TO 'PUMP THE THROTTLE' A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN BEYOND THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY AND TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A DITCH WITH THE NOSEWHEEL, CAUSING IT TO SHEAR OFF. THE LEFT WINGTIP CONTACTED THE GROUND AND SUBSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE WING SPAR. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET AFTER THE WINGTIP STRUCK THE GROUND.INVESTIGATION FOUND THE AUX FUEL PUMP IN THE 'ON' POSITION. THE PROCEDURES IN THE POH CALL FOR THE AUX FUEL PUMP TO BE OFF FOR TAKEOFF. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THIS HAD NO BEARING ON THE ENGINE FAILURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
