## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 01, 2010, BETWEEN 17:15 AND 17:30, AIRCRAFT N700ZR WAS PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS LANDING AT GAI. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS LANDING ON RUNWAY 32, LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE AND CRASHED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED, BUT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS NOT SERIOUSLY AND REFUSED ANY MEDICAL TRATMENT FROM FIRE RESCUE PERSONNEL. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD COME INTO GAI.^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IS AN EYEWITNESS TO THE ACCIDENT. HE STATED THAT N700ZR MADE LOCAL TRAFFIC COMMUNICATION AT ABOUT 12 MILES OUT STATING THAT HE WAS COMING IN FAST TO MAKE A LEFT DOWNWIND TRAFFIC ENTRY TO LAND ON RWY 32. ALL TRAFFIC WAS IN A RIGHT DOWN WIND PATTERN. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS ON FINAL BEHIND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AS N700ZR WAS CROSSING THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD. HE NOTICED THAT N700ZR WAS LINED UP ON THE RUNWAY CENTRE LINE , THEN SOON AFTER N700ZR CROSSED THE THRESHOLD, THE AIRCRAFT FLARED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ALSO NOTICED THAT THE AIRCRAFT MUSHY AND WOBBLED, THE NOSE WAS TOO HIGH AND THE LEFT WING DOWN, LIKE A STALL. THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED TO THE LEFT UNTIL THE LEFT WING MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT THEN CARTWHEELED INTO THE TREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA155](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA155), Mar 1, 2010: Socata TBM 700 (N700ZR), Gaithersburg, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain aircraft control while performing a go-around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
