## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON RETURNING TO HALIFAX/NORTHAMPTON REGIONAL (KIXA) AIRPORT, FROM A 30 MINUTE LOCAL FLIGHT THE AWOS WAS REPORTING WINDS FROM 300 DEGREES AT 8 KNOTS (NO GUSTS), PIC ELECTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 2. THE LANDING WENT WELL AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS ROLLING ON THE RUNWAY, SLOWING DOWN SO THE TAIL COULD DROP WHEN THE LEFT WING SUDDENLY ROSE VERY HIGH FROM A GUST OF WIND CAUSING THE RIGHT WING TO SCRAPE THE RUNWAY. ABOUT THE SAME TIME THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TURNING TO THE RIGHT AND THE PIC APPLIED FULL POWER IN AN ATTEMPT TO REGAIN CONTROL AND GET THE WINGS BACK LEVEL. THE AIRCRAFT FAILED TO RESPOND PROMPTLY TO CONTROL INPUTS AND CONTINUED TURNING RIGHT UNTIL IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 90 DEGREES TO THE RUNWAY AND HEADING FOR A 15 FOOT DIRT BANK ROUGHLY 150 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY. AT THIS TIME THE WINGS WERE LEVEL BUT THE AIRSPEED WAS VERY CLOSE TO STALL AND PIC WAS UNABLE TO CLIMB TO CLEAR THE DIRT BANK. THE AIRPLANE STRUCK THE BANK ABOUT MIDWAY IN A "NOSE HIGH" ATTITUDE AND CAME TO REST ON TOP OF THE BANK ABOUT 20 FEET FROM THE POINT OF IMPACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA168](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA168), Mar 7, 2010: Aeronca 7AC (N84694), Roanoke Rapids, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during a crosswind landing/rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
