## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT AND SINGLE OCCUPANT OF N541B, WAS ON A VFR FLIGHT FROM MIDLAND, TEXAS (MAF) TO MARFA, TEXAS (MRF). THE PILOT EXECUTED A STRAIGHT IN APPROACH FOR RUNWAY 21 AT MARFA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT(MRF). THE PILOT STATED WINDS WERE 250 DEGREES 27-34 KNOTS AND CONDITIONS WERE VERY WINDY AND TURBULENT. AS HE FLARED TO TOUCHDOWN HE FELT THE FUSELAGE STEP DRAG THE RUNWAY AND HE ADDED POWER TO GO AROUND. THE PROPELLER TIPS CONTACTED THE RUNWAY AS HE ADDED POWER. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE AND THE PILOT EXTENDED THE LANDING GEAR AT THAT TIME WHICH CAUSED ADDITIONAL DRAG. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY AND THE PILOT CONTINUED A SLOW TURN TO THE RIGHT IN ORDER TO LAND ON THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 21. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED TERRAIN APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS TO THE LEFT OF RUNWAY 21. THE RIGHT WING TIP RECEIVED DAMAGE, WITH SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING, LEFT MAIN GEAR AND NOSE GEAR. THERE WAS ALSO SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER. THE PILOT REPORTED BRUISED RIBS, BUT REQUIRED NO HOSPITALIZATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA152](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA152), Mar 11, 2010: Beech A35 (N541B), Marfa, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to extend the landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
