## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 10, 2010, WHILE CLIMBING THROUGH FL350 NEAR ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY, AIRCRAFT N155MM EXPERIENCED AN EXTERIOR WINDOW PANE FAILURE OF THE NUMBER 4 PASSENGER WINDOW ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE WINDOW PANE DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS INGESTED INTO THE RIGHT ENGINE INLET CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED TO ATC AND THE PILOT REQUESTED A CLEARANCE TO RETURN TO REPUBLIC AIRPORT ON ONE OPERATING ENGINE. AFTER COMMENCING A 180 DEGREE DESCENDING TURN BACK TOWARDS REPUBLIC AIRPORT, N155MM PROCEEDED BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL DEPARTURE AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10IA170](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10IA170), Mar 10, 2010: Gulfstream American G-1159A (N155MM), Farmingdale, NY, incident, minor damage. Probable cause: Progressive cracking from an undetermined initiation source, which resulted in the failure of the No. 4 cabin window outer pane, and the subsequent foreign object ingestion to the right engine.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
