## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A ANNUAL COMPETENCY CHECK (135.293) IN WHICH THE CHECK AIRMAN WAS BEING OBSERVED BY A NATIONAL RESOURCE FOR DESIGNATION AS A CHECKAIRMAN, THE PILOT TOUCHDOWN FIRMLY AND LET THE NOSEWHEEL DROP HARD AND A NOSEWHEEL SHIMMY DEVELOPED. THE CHECK INSTRUCTOR IMMEDIATELY TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, LIFTING IT INTO A HOVER. THE 3 INDIVIDUALS IN THE AIRCRAFT DISCUSSED WHAT OCCURRED AND DECIDED IT WOULD BE BEST TO HAVE THE NOSEWHEEL INSPECTED BY MAINTENANCE AT THE HOME BASE, KPVD. THE NOSEWHEEL WAS INSPECTED BY MAINTENANCE AND NO PROBLEMS NOTED. ON THE FOLLOWING MORNING DURING AN INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT, WRINKLING WAS NOTED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TAILBOOM SKIN, AND THE FAA FSDO AND REGIONAL OPERATIONS CENTER WAS NOTIFIED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
