## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE PERFORMING VFR PATTERNS AND LANDING PRACTICE TO RUNWAY 19 AT THE FLYING W AIRPORT THE CABIN DOOR POPPED OPEN ON THE DOWNWIND LEG. THE PILOT WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT LOWERED THE GEAR AND OBSERVED IT AS DOWN AND LOCKED. THE OPEN DOOR WAS DISTACTING AND CAUSED TURBULENCE AND BUFFETING. THE PILOT ELECTED TO FLY THE APPROACH AT A SLIGHTLY HIGHER AIRSPEED AT 115 - 120 MPH ON FINAL AS OPPOSED TO THE NORMAL APPROACH SPEED OF 100 MPH. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE LANDING WAS NOT HARD AND HE TOUCHED DOWN IN A FLAT ATTITUDE. AFTER TOUCHDOWN ON THE RUNWAY NUMBERS AND APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET INTO THE ROLLOUT THE GEAR COLLAPSED WITH THE NOSE GEAR FIRST THEN THE RIGHT GEAR AND THEN THE LEFT GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT SLID APPROXIMATELY 1500 FEET. THE PILOT BROUGHT ALL THE POWER QUADRANT LEVERS BACK AND EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10LA193](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10LA193), Mar 21, 2010: Beech B95 (N1572L), Lumberton, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadvertent retraction of the landing gear during the landing rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
