## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE LANDING WAS NORMAL, UNTIL THE TAIL WHEEL BECAME UNLOCKED. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF THE PLANE, EVEN WITH THE USE OF THE AIRCRAFT BRAKES. THE RIGHT WHEEL THEN WENT OFF THE SIDE OF RUNWAY AND DUG INTO THE MUD. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND THE RIGHT WING TIP MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE RIGHT HAND LOWER WING SPAR WAS FOUND TO BE CRACKED APPROXATIMATLY TWO FEET FROM TIP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA213](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA213), Mar 27, 2010: Waco YPF-7 (N32077), Houston, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inability to maintain control during landing due to the failure of the tailwheel locking mechanism to remain engaged prior to landing.

## Other reports on N32077 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19801019063509A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19801019063509A), Oct 19, 1980: Waco YPF7 (N32077), Oklahoma City, OK, Substantial damage. Lost directional control on takeoff roll veered off runway into parked airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
