## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MLB) AT 0715 EDT ON A PART 91 FLIGHT TO NAPLES, FLORIDA (APF). AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED AND THE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER IFR FLIGHT RULES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS CLEARED FOR A VOR APPROACH TO RUNWAY 5. THE PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT HE HAD ROUNDED THE AIRPLANE OUT HIGH, FAST, AND TOUCHED DOWN HARD. WITNESSES STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED TWICE BEFORE THE NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED AND THE PROPS STRUCK THE PAVEMENT WHICH OCCURED JUST BEYOND THE HALF WAY POINT OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SLID DOWN THE RUNWAY FROM TAXIWAY A3 INTERSECTION TO TAXIWAY D WITH THE NOSE WHEEL SHEARED OFF. UPON STOPPING, THE PILOT EGRESSED FROM THE MAIN ENTRY DOOR. EXAMINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED BENT PROPELLERS, NOSE GEAR AND NOSE GEAR DOOR DAMAGE. SEPERATED NOSE WHEEL AND HUB, AND THE FUSELAGE WAS WRINKLED FROM WING ROOT TO WING ROOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA191](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA191), Mar 27, 2010: Beech 58 (N858PR), Naples, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare while landing, resulting in a bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
