## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE GLIDER WAS ON SHORT FINAL WITH A RELATIVELY STRONG QUARTERING HEADWINDAND ASSOCIATED GUSTS. APPROACH SPEED WAS CALCULATED TO BE FIFTY KNOTS. AT APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 6 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND THE WIND GRADIENT DROPPED OFF RAPIDLY AND THE GLIDER FELL TO THEGROUND IMPACTING ON THE NOSE SKID WHICH WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE HARD LANDING. THE GLIDER SLID FORAPPROXIMATELY FIFTY FEET ON THE NOSE SKID COMING TO REST IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
