## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS PROVIDING CROSSWIND INSTRUCTION WITH A STUDENT PILOT. UPON LANDING WITH A RIGHT QUARTERING, GUSTY CROSSWIND THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A DOWNDRAFT OVER A TREE LINE ON THE UPWIND SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT HIT VERY HARD AND BOUNCED APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET. THE AIRCRAFT HIT ON THE LEFT GEAR FIRST, THEN THE RIGHT GEAR. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GRASS CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP ON ITS BACK. BOTH THE PILOT AND THE STUDENT WERE UNINJURED IN THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA224](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA224), Apr 25, 2010: Cessna 170-B (N3201A), White Bear Lake, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's inadequate attempted recovery from a bounced landing and the student pilot's abrupt use of the brakes, which resulted in the airplane nosing over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
