## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS ENROUTE FROM LANETT, AL, TO WINNSBORO, LA, WITH A PLANNED FUEL STOP IN MERIDIAN, MS (MEI). THE PILOT STATED HE HAD RECENTLY SWITHCED FROM RIGHT TANK TO THE LEFT TANK. THE PILOT STATED THERE WAS TURBULANCE THAT DAY AND HIS MECHNICAL GAUGES WERE HARD TO READ AND IT APPEARED LESS FUEL IN THE LEFT TANK. HE SWITCHED BACK TO RIGHT TANK. AS HE APPROACHED MERIDIAN AIRPORT HE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT MEI APPROACH/DEPATURE ON 120.5 WITH NO RESPONSE, TRIED 119.8 TOWER WITH NO RESPONSE, BUT WAS RECEIVING CLEARLY. HE SWITCHED RADIOS AND REPEATED THE PROCESS WITH NO RESPONCE. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND DIED. HE SWITCHED BACK TO HIS LEFT FUEL TANK, RUNNING THROUGH HIS CHECK LIST IN AN ATTEMPT TO RE-START HIS ENGINE WITH NO SUCCESS. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED ONCE AGAIN FOR A MOMENT AND DIED AGAIN. IT WAS APPARENT THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO MAKE THE APPORT. HE LANDED ON HWY 11 PARALLEL TO MEI, WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
