## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 9 2010 AT APPROXIMATLY 1000 HOURS, A SINGLE, TURBINE ENGINE POWERED BERKUT, SERIAL NUMBER 054 (N3255U) WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING A CRASH LANDING AFTER MAKING AN ATTEMPTED LANDING AT FORT COLLINS/LOVELAND AIRPORT (KFNL). THE ATTEMPTED LANDING WAS PERFORMED AFTER THE T-58-8F ENGINE FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 7500 FT MSL. THE ATTEMPT TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT LANDING APPROXIMATLY ONE HALF MILE NORTH OF KFNL AFTER CROSSING A FIELD, SMALL ROAD AND COMING TO REST AGAINST A FENCE. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED AND THERE WERE NO OTHER PASSENGERS ON BOARD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OWNED AND OPERATED BY THE PILOT. VMC CONDITIONS WERE REPORTED BY THE PILOT AND WERE VERIFIED BY THIS OFFICE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10LA242](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10LA242), May 9, 2010: Jorritsma Jerrold S Berkut (N3255U), Loveland, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power due to a malfunction of the fuel controller resulting in a compressor stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
