## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 10, 2010, AT 1755L, EXPRESSJET FLT 3044, ENROUTE TO HOUSTON, TX FROM OMAHA, NE, EXPERIENCED A SUSPECTED LIGHTNING STRIKE AT FL370 WHILE NAVIGATING THROUGH AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS AT M.63 FOR TURBULENCE WHEN THE CREW NOTICED THE IAS AMBER FLAG. THE CREW STATED THAT THE CAPT AND FO AIRSPEEDS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THE AIRCRAFT SPEED INDICATION CONTINUED TO REDUCE TO BELOW 180KIAS WHEN THE CREW SWITCHED TO THE BACKUP ISIS SYSTEM. THE STALL PROTECTION SYSTEM (SPS) INDICATOR ALSO ILLUMINATED AT THIS TIME. A DESCENT TO LOWER ALTITUDE WAS INITIATED USING THE ISIS WHEN THE CREW NOTICED A MARKED INCREASE IN COCKPIT WIND NOISE. SUSPECTING THE AIRCRAFT WAS CLOSE TO THE HIGH SPEED BUFFET REGIME , THE CREW LEVELED OFF AND REDUCED AIRSPEED. IN THE DESCENT, THE CREW STATED THAT THE CAPT AND FO AIRSPEED INDICATIONS REDUCED EVEN FURTHER, HOWEVER, IN FURTHER DESCENT, THE AIRSPEED INDICATORS RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED AND THE CREW LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO AVIONICS OR AIRFRAME DISCREPANICES WERE FOUND DURING THE MAINTENANCE POST FLIGHT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
