## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(X49). THE OWNER HAD JUST MOVED THE AIRPLANE TO THE TEE HANGAR TO PUT IT AWAY. HE SAID HE HEARD A SOUND AND WALKED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE TO SEE WHAT IT WAS AND SAW THAT A FIRE HAD STARTED UNDER THE RIGHT SIDE, IN THE GRASS (WHERE THE FUEL QUICK DRAIN WAS). HE WENT IN THE HANGAR TO GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WHEN HE GOT BACK THE FIRE HAD DESTROYED THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY FIRE THAT MELTED THE ALUMINUM FUSELAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
