## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT AND AIRCRAFT HAD WORKED ALL MORNING IN AGRICULTURAL OPERATIONS. AT APPROX 1 PM WINDS WERE 90 DEGREES TO HIS EAST/WEST STRIP AT ABOUT 20 KNOTS. OPERATIONS WAS SUSPENDED. AT APPROX 5:30 PM THE WINDS HAD DIED DOWN ENOUGH TO RESUME OPERATIONS. THERE WAS A THUNDERSTORM APPROX 5 MILES SOUTH OF HIS STRIP, HOWEVER HE WAS GOING TO WORK NORTH WHICH WAS CLEAR. AIRCRAFT HAD 2800 LBS OF FERTILIZER AND ONE QUARTER TANK OF FUEL WHEN HE ATTEMPTED A WEST DEPARTURE. AT TWO-THIRDS OF HIS RUNWAY HE REALIZED HE HAD A WIND SHEAR WHEN THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED DOWN, SO HE APPLIED FULL POWER AND IMPACTED HIS LEFT MAIN GEAR AND TAILWHEEL INTO A BERM AT THE END OF HIS STRIP CAUSING THE LEFT MAIN AND TAIL WHEEL TO SEPERATE FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT CONTINUED TO CIRCLE HIS FIELD UNTIL A FIRE TRUCK AND RESCUE SQUAD COULD ARRIVE AND HE PROCEEDED TO MAKE A ONE WHEEL LANDING THE AIRCRAFT IN A RICE FIELD ADJACENT TO HIS STRIP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
