## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APPROACH TO LANDING AT BOLD AIRSTRIP AIRCRAFT DRIFTED LEFT OF THE RUNWAY CENTER LINE. THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF HIS AIRCRAFT AFTER THE LEFT TIRE STRUCK THE TOP OF A TREE CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO STRIKE THE GROUND WITH THE RIGHT WING TIP WHICH CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR AND LEFT WING OF THE AIRCRAFT .

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC10CA042](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC10CA042), May 22, 2010: Piper PA-12 (N2581M), Chugiak, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain a proper glide path while landing, which resulted in an in-flight collision with a tree, and the collapse of the main landing gear during touchdown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
