## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 26, 2010 N4122T EXPERIENCED AN IN-FLIGHT FIRE WHILE PERFORMING FLIGHT MANEUVERS. THE CFI DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND FORCED LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN A DIRT AREA SOUTHWEST OF TAXIWAY "P" DUE TO THE REPORTED ABUNDANT SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. ONCE ON THE GROUND AND AT REST THE TWO PILOTS SELF EVACUATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO BURN UNTIL LOCAL FIRE CREWS EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. DURING INITIAL ONSITE INVESTIGATION, THE LYCOMING ENGINE AIR SAFETY INVESTIGATOR NOTED THAT THE ENGINE DRIVEN FUEL PUMP OUTPUT PRESSURE LINE WAS DISCONNECTED FROM THE FUEL PUMP FITTING. THIS FIND WAS PRESENTED AND TO NTSB, FAA, AND THE PIPER INVESTIGATORS ON SITE.
