## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER LANDING DURING THE ROLL OUT, THE PRIVATE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT ALLOWING IT TO VEER OFF THE GRAVEL STRIP TO THE LEFT SUBSEQUENTLY STRIKING A SMALL TREE WITH THE LEFT WING. THE IMPACT SPUN THE AIRCRAFT TO THE LEFT CAUSING THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR TO COLLAPSE ALLOWING THE RIGHT WING TO CONTACT THE GROUND DAMAGING THE WING SPAR AND TWISTING THE VERTICAL STABILIZER CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR THE SINGLE PASSENGER ON BOARD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC10CA045](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC10CA045), May 29, 2010: Piper PA-22-150 (N5844D), Anchorage, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
