## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED TO THE REPORTING INSPECTOR VIA EMAIL ON 6/2/2010 BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ (PIC), PIC WAS INSTRUCTING ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ON JUNE 1ST GETTING HIM FINISHED UP FOR HIS SOLO WHICH HE WAS READY FOR THE FOLLOWING MORNING. WE WERE DOING ARE LAST TOUCH & GOES OF THE DAY TO A FULL STOP. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD THE CONTROLS AND HAD TOUCHED DOWN IN FULL CONTROL OF THE TRIKE AND HAD TRAVELED ABOUT 20 TO 30FT. IN A NORMAL LANDING AND ROLL OUT. INSTANTLY AND WITH OUT WARNING THE TRIKE BASE WENT OVER ON IT'S LEFT SIDE WHICH DROPPED THE LEFT WING TIP SEVERELY AND ROLLED AND PITCHED DOWN THE LEFT WING DIGGING IT INTO THE RUNWAY AND THE DIRT ON THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AT ABOUT 25 TO 30 MPH, CAUSING THE WING TO FOLD UP AND COLLAPSE. THE TRIKE THEN SKIDDED TO A STOP ON THE RUN WAY, THE WING WAS TOTALED. PIC AND STUDENT THEN EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH OUT INCIDENT, SHUT OFF IGNITION AND FUEL VALVE AND FOLDED UP THE WING AS BEST AS POSSIBLE AND CLEARED THE WING AND TRIKE OFF THE RUNWAY AND STORED IT IN TOM'S HANGER. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION BY PILOT OF THE AIRCRAFT, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE RIGHT MAIN MAST CABLE HAD BROKE 3'' ABOVE ITS LOWER ATTACHMENT POINT WHERE THE CABLE ENTERS A "SWEDGE" CONNECTOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA275](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA275), Jun 2, 2010: Airborne Windsports PTY Edge X (N354MB), Alturas, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: Fracture of a mast support cable due to corrosion, which resulted in a loss of control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
