## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 06/01/2010 AT 0800 PM ET, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MADE A WATER TAKEOFF FROM PONTIAC LAKE IN N1337H. DURING THE INITIAL PART OF THE TAKE OFF, HIS AIRCRAFT HAS HEADED DIRECTLY TOWARD A SMALL FISHING BOAT WITH 3 OCCUPANTS. THE FORWARD VISIBILITY WAS EXTREMELY LIMITED DURING THIS PART OF THE TAKEOFF DUE TO A NORMAL NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE. ONCE THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON A PLANE, THE FORWARD VISIBILITY WAS IMPROVED AND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THEN NOTICED THE FISHING BOAT. HE MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN TO MISS THE BOAT. HE THEN DRAGGED THE LEFT WING TIP ACROSS A SMALL ISLAND AND THROUGH BRUSH. HE CONTINUED THE TAKE OFF AND ALMOST STRUCK ANOTHER BOAT FURTHER ALONG IN HIS TAKEOFF PATH. HE RETURNED AND LANDED. THIS CREATED SEVERAL DENTS IN THE LEFT WING TIP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
