## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ATTEMPTED A TAKE OFF IN AN OVERWEIGHT CONDITION. THE AIRCRAFT FAILED TO REACH APPROPRIATE SPEED FOR TAKE OFF. PILOT ABORTED, RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER AS IT RAN THROUGH TALL GRASS. PASSENGER WAS INJURED. PILOT WAS OPERATING WITH STUDENT PILOT CERTIFICATE THAT EXPIRED 9 YEARS EARLIER AND HAD NO CURRENT MEDICAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA323](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA323), Jun 12, 2010: Mcculley Ronald W-8 (N8519N), Lamoni, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The non-certificated pilot's decision to attempt a takeoff that exceeded the airplane's performance capability, which resulted in an overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
