## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PASSENGER WAS INSTRUCTED TO STEP OUT OF THE BALLOON BASKET AND KEEP HER WEIGHT ON THE BASKET FOR BALLAST. THE BALLOON SHIFTED DUE TO HER WEIGHT CHANGE AND SHE LET GO OF THE BASKET. ANOTHER CREW PERSON ALSO LET GO OF THE BASKET BECAUSE THE BALLOON BEGAN TO BECOME AIRBORN DUE TO THE REDUCTION IN WEIGHT. THE CREW CHIEF WAS ALSO HOLDING ONTO THE BASKET AS THE BALLOON LIFTED OFF THE GROUND. THE CREW CHIEF THEN GRABBED THE LOWER ROPE HANDLES NEAR THE BASE OF THE BALLOON BASKET. THE CREW CHIEF WAS LIFTED INTO THE AIR ABOUT TWENTY FEET AND THEN FELL TO THE GROUND SUSTAINING SERIOUS INJURY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR10LA300](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR10LA300), Jun 18, 2010: Arbc Inc DBA Lindstrand 120A (N501LB), Grants Pass, OR, no damage. Probable cause: The balloon ground crew member's decision to not release his hold on the basket of an ascending hot air balloon basket as it lifted off of the ground.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
