## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING AN ATTEMPT TO LAND ON RUNWAY 19. TIRE MARKS WERE VISIBLE ON RUNWAY AT ABOUT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE RUNWAY HEADING TO THE RIGHT SIDE WHERE A RUNWAY LIGHT WAS TORN OFF. THIS WAS THE 10TH RUNWAY LIGHT FROM THE APPROACH END WHICH WOULD BE 2000 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END. DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THE BROKEN LIGHT, CLOSE TO A 90 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE RUNWAY HEADING, AND APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS FROM THE RUNWAY IS AN 8 FOOT TALL CHAIN LINK PERIMETER FENCE. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, HE ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND. THE FENCE WAS STRUCK BY THE AIRCRAFT IN FLIGHT. THE RIGHT WING AND LANDING GEAR APPEAR TO HAVE HIT THE TOP RAIL OF THE FENCE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET OUTSIDE THE FENCE IN A VERY DENSELY FORESTED AREA WITH THE AIRCRAFT PARTIALLY SUPPORTED BY THE GROWTH. THE TREES PAST THE FENCE WERE 30 TO 50 FEET HIGH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA321](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA321), Jun 19, 2010: Aeronca 7BCM (N2553B), Bolivar, TN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control while landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
