## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACCORDING TO PILOT, HE ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF ON A 2640 FOOT STRIP TO COMPLETE A CROPDUSTING RUN. UPLIFT WAS APPROXIMATELY 1950 LBS. OF CHEMICALS IN THE HOPPER AND 100 GALLONS OF FUEL. APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF THE WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY, WITH WEIGHT JUST COMING OFF THE MAINS, THE AIRCRAFT HIT A BUMP IN THE RUNWAY WHICH FORCED THE AIRCRAFT INTO A NOSE HIGH CONFIGURATION. AN EMERGENCY DUMP WAS INITIATED BUT THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND SETTLED INTO A CORN FIELD. THE PILOT INDICATED THAT THE GRASS STRIP WAS WET FROM RECENT RAINS, THE TEMPERATURE WAS 96 DEGREES, AND HE HAD 10 DEGREES OF FLAPS SELECTED. THIS WAS HIS THIRD RUN OF THE DAY. HE INDICATED THAT HE HAD CARRIED MORE WEIGHT THAN THAT ON PREVIOUS FLIGHTS. THE AIRCRAFT ENDED UP APPROXIMATELY 80 YARDS INTO A CORN FIELD AT THE WEST END OF THE STRIP. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNHURT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA343](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA343), Jun 19, 2010: Air Tractor AT-402B (N5120E), Virden, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to take off from a wet grass runway at an airplane weight and density altitude that precluded a normal takeoff and climb.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
