## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 25, 2010, AT APPROXIMATELY 0930 MDT, AN AIRBORNE OUTBACK, AN EXPERIMENTAL LIGHT SPORT WEIGHT-SHIFT-CONTROL AIRCRAFT, CRASHED ON LANDING AT FRONT RANGE AIRPORT (FTG) IN WATKINS, CO. THE PERSONAL FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 14 CFR PART 91, WAS OPERATING WITH A FLIGHT PLAN AND WAS AT THE CONCLUSION OF A STUDENT PILOT CROSS-COUNTRY FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (VMC) PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE WING AND NOSE GEAR. THE STUDENT PILOT, SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT, WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN10CA423](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN10CA423), Jun 25, 2010: Airborne Outback (N5507R), Denver, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s improper flare at touchdown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
