As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 02 OUT OF (3VA3) FLYING CIRCUS AIRPORT AT ABOUT 80 TO 100 FEET PILOT ELECTED TO ABORT TAKE BECAUSE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT GOING TO CLEAR THE TREES. PILOT TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND RIGHT OF THE GRASS STRIP BUT THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND HIT HARD. PILOT ADMITTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS FULL WITH FUEL, TEMPERATURE WAS CLOSE TO 100 AND DENSITY ALTITUDE WAS 2800, AND HE HAD A PASENGER ON BOARD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10CA355](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10CA355), Jul 5, 2010: Piper J3C-65 (N33554), Warrenton, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare during a precautionary landing, which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
