## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON TUESDAY JULY 6, 2010, AT APPROXIMATELY 08:00 CDT, N155SC, MBB-BK117-B1, OPERATED BY AIR METHODS CORPORATION WAS ENROUTE AT 2,500 FEET, FROM BRYAN LGH WEST HOSPITAL (47NE), LINCOLN, NE, TO MARYSVILLE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, MARYSVILLE, KS, TO PICK UP A PATIENT. THE HELICOPTER DIVERTED TO BEATRICE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT BEATRICE, NE, DUE TO SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. THE HELICOPTER LANDED SAFELY WITH THE PILOT AND 2 MEDICAL PERSONNEL UNINJURED. MAINTENANCE REPLACED THE STANDBY ELECTRICAL DIRECTIONAL GYRO.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
